Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "Rei," meaning universal, and "Ki," meaning life energy. Reiki practitioners believe that this universal life energy flows through all living beings and that disruptions or blockages in this flow can lead to physical, emotional, or spiritual imbalances.

What to Expect in a Reiki Session:

  1. Initial Consultation:
    Before the session begins, the practitioner may ask about your health history, intentions for the session, and any specific concerns you'd like to address.

  2. Setting the Environment:
    Reiki sessions typically take place in a calm, relaxing environment. Soft lighting, soothing music, and possibly the presence of crystals or other healing tools like a Reiki drum may enhance the ambiance.

  3. Lying Down or Sitting Comfortably:
    Clients usually lie fully clothed on a massage table, but Reiki can also be done while sitting comfortably. It's recommended to wear loose, comfortable clothing.

  4. Gentle Touch or Hands Hovering:
    The practitioner will place their hands lightly on or just above various areas of your body, focusing on energy centers or chakras. If you prefer no physical touch, let the practitioner know—they can work with the energy field around your body.

  5. Sensation During the Session:
    Clients often experience warmth, tingling, or a gentle flow of energy. Some feel deeply relaxed, while others may experience an emotional release. It’s common to enter a meditative, dream-like state.

  6. Reiki Drum Healing:
    If your practitioner incorporates a Reiki drum, the rhythmic sound and vibration of the drum help deepen relaxation, facilitate meditation, and amplify the energy flow.

  7. After the Session:
    You may feel a sense of calm, increased energy, or emotional release. It's a good idea to drink water, rest, and reflect on your experience. The effects of Reiki can continue to unfold in the days following the session.
